A Letter to our Customers

Hello,

I haven’t written a letter to our customers for a few years and decided it’s time. Nicole, our daughter, graduated from University of Washington 2 years ago, and is now full time with us at the farm.  She is such a blessing to her “aging” parents (us)!

She is also enrolled in NTP (Nutritional Therapy Practitioner) school and will be graduating from that this July.  Her focus on nutritional health through healthy food fits right in with what we do. Her knowledge adds another dimension to what we do:  not only sustainably, humanely, organically grown food, but nutritionally healing food we offer. She can help people heal many ailments through proper nutrition, and we are really excited for her.  

Harvesting hay this year is early, thanks to the warm weather we had in May. We are hoping that we won’t have that drought weather we had last year and will be blessed with intermittent rain with this sunshine.

We are taking a break from broiler chickens and turkeys this year while we assess our farm operations and its efficiency.   Our chicken houses are old and need reconstruction and we just don’t have time this year. One of the oddest things that happened this year is that we had 400 plus laying hens (chickens laying eggs) stolen from the farm.   We are not the only one that got hit in the valley, but it’s very disheartening to see our egg production go down to nothing in a matter of 3-4 weeks, and by the time you realize what’s happening, it’s too late. We obviously don’t count chickens every day and it looks like thieves came in and took 50 or so at a time in the middle of the night.  We are still pondering what to do… another 6 months of raising chickens.

On brighter note, we were written up in ACRES magazine last November.  We were on the cover, and George joked “hey this is like being on the cover of Rolling Stone… a farm version!”  The Article can be viewed by clicking this link.

Finally, but most importantly, George, Nicole and I want to sincerely thank you for being such a good customer and being a part of our farm family.  Please know that without customers like you, we simply will not exist
